Volunteering with the Mujeres 08/24/2011
![]() Meet Volunteers Ruth Meding and Lea Dickopf We are two German students who came to Nicaragua to do a volunteership with the Mujeres Ambientalistas in Esteli for a month. It was great fun. We helped tending the fields where they grow vegetables and herbs, they showed us the paper making process and we even got to make cards, posters and other things with them. They only use recycled paper and natural colors such as vegetables, fruits, flowers or tobacco. We went to the markets with them where we sold their paper products (todo hecho a mano!) It was a very interesting work where we got to spend a lot of time with the women and they told us so much about their association, about the foundation and the trouble of constantly having helpers (they all do it voluntarily) and buyers. As well as that it was a great way of getting to know the people and the country. We can only recommend coming to visit them to see their products or even volunteer for a while. They are really happy about every helping hand. CommentsLeave a Reply | See How the Women Make PaperAuthorMy name is Kenny Ellwanger.
